Type.............................Silicone emulsion
Physical form...............Liquid
Special Properties........Food grade; highly effective in small
concentrations; easily dispersed.
Primary use..................Suppressing foam in systems
processing nonstandardized foods.
ICM AF 30 FGK Antifoam Emulsion is a water-dilutable silicone material that can
be used to
suppress foam in processing nonstandardized foods. It contains 30-percent active
silicone
defoamer in a nonionic emulsion, and can be used in quantities up to 33 parts per
million on
the basis of "prior sanction" under the Federal Food and Drug
Administration regulations.

APPLICATIONS: Although ICM AF 30 FGK Antifoam Emulsion is primarily used to suppress foam in processing nonstandardized food products, it is also often used to suppress foam in various chemical processing applications. It is especially effective in certain fermentation applications. Typical food-processing applications include: |

HOW TO USE:
ICM AF 30 FGK Antifoam Emulsion should always be diluted with water or with a
portion of
the foamer before addition to the system.

Concentration:
Although ICM AF 30 FGK Antifoam Emulsion should be diluted before use,
concentrations
(ppm) in the foamer are expressed in terms of the product as supplied. Only 5 to 30
parts per
million are normally required. As a starting point for evaluation work, add enough
diluted
antifoam to give a concentration of 10 ppm.
Dilution:
First, stir or agitate ICM AF 30 FGK Antifoam Emulsion before removing it from
the shipping
container. Then follow these dilution steps:
1. Dilute the required amount of antifoam with 3 volumes of water or foaming
medium. Slowly
add the water (or foaming medium), and stir gently until a uniform mixture is
obtained.
2. Use the diluted antifoam within eight hours. Longer storage may cause the
emulsion to
break and lose antifoam efficiency. If longer storage is necessary, stir the
mixture frequently.
3. Add the diluted antifoam to the foaming system. Stir or agitate to insure
complete
dispersion and effective foam control.
Amount Needed:
For specific applications, the required amount of ICM AF 30 FGK Antifoam
Emulsion can be
determined by starting at 33 PPM concentration and decreasing until performance is
as desired.
